Along the way, in the olden days you would receive quests for the MQ every five levels, and do those in parallel with your Alliance faction’s zone quests (now you can do the main quests whenever you want, I personally like spreading them out when leveling a character). Each Alliance has a starter zone (1 zone for Dominion, two smaller zones for Pact and Covenant), and then five larger regions to explore in order. Once that’s done, you’ll be dropped in your faction’s starting/tutorial quest area. This prologue is still available as a quest in the game you will see a “Hooded Figure” appear near your faction’s starting city wayshrine (Vulkhel Guard, Davon’s Watch or Daggerfall) and you just take it from there. This is the quest where you are taken to Coldharbour for the first time and need to escape. When you started the story before any of the newer “chapters,” the prologue started the main quest. "Your pathetic Aedric trinket can't defeat me!" Main Quest/Faction Quests/Fighters Guild/Mages Guild.Anything I skip in this guide, is content that you can do at any time without concern for continuity. And there was in fact a major story arc that extended over two years that, again, you’ll miss if you play out of order. But there are key NPCs that show up in the story earlier and later, building a relationship with you, and if you play out of order you miss out on that. ![]() Granted, most of the zones, chapters and DLCs have fairly independent storyline, and you don’t lose THAT much playing them out of order. Broadly, this move was helpful for the game and most people like it, but something was lost in terms of storytelling: most players now just run all over the place and don’t get a sense of the narrative the game builds over time. With the One Tamriel update, they changed all of that-now you can do anything you come across on any map, and the game auto-matches your strength to the enemy’s strength. When the game came out in 2014, content was leveled you basically had to play the game on rails, following a clear path-mobs here were level 5, then over there they were level 9, etc. Mild spoilers ahead.ĭISCLAIMER: THERE’S NO “DANGER” IN DOING CONTENT OUT OF ORDER ![]() This week’s guide covers something I don’t actually see in guides very often: the “right” order for the game’s quest content. As always, I’m trying to pick topics, or angles on topics, that you can’t find from many other YouTubers and content creators. ![]() Good morning, time for another ESO guide. ![]() Why does the frequency appear to increase as it approaches you? The cycles take progressively less time to reach you as the police car approaches. For example, radio waves transmitted by an X-band radar on a frequency of 8.5 gigahertz (GHz) transmit a breath-taking one billion cycles per second. Frequency is simply a measurement of how many cycles per second a particular wave performs. The circular movement of a wave from its peak to its trough and back to its peak is called a cycle. Why? The siren generates sound waves and, like radio waves, these have peaks and troughs. In reality, the frequency of the tone is unchanged as it leaves the siren, but from the observer’s perspective it appears to rise in tone as it approaches and fall in tone as it leaves. As it passes, the tone changes and now appears to fall. As the car drives towards you, the tone of its siren seems to rise. ![]() In the distance, you hear the police car’s siren. ![]() You stand at the kerb waiting to cross the road. What does this mean? The oft quoted analogy is a police car siren. In the early 19th century, Austrian physicist Christian Doppler deduced that, for an observer, a wave’s perceived frequency is dependent on two things – the speed of the frequency’s source and the speed of the observer. That is range taken care of, but what about the target’s speed? This brings us to our second law of physics. It is then just a matter of calculating how far a radar pulse can travel in 0.1ms, which is 16.2nm, and we can therefore deduce that the ship is 16.2nm from the radar. So all the radar needs to do is halve the time for the round trip. The radar does not need to know the distance of the round trip, just how far away the target is. Because we know the radar pulse travels at 161,595kps, in 0.2ms the radar pulse will have travelled 32.4 nautical miles/nm. The 0.2ms comprises the time taken for the transmission, collision, and echo round trip. The radar’s pulse takes 0.2 milliseconds to be transmitted, hit the ship, and be reflected at the antenna as an echo. Let us suppose we have a radar that has detected a ship. In that quick glimpse, your brain will subconsciously compute how far the door is from where you are standing.Ī radar works in much the same way. Switch it on for a fraction of a second and the light briefly illuminates a door in front of you. This is akin to being in a dark room equipped with a torch. Most radars send out pulses of radio waves. Firstly, radio waves travel at light speed – 161,595 knots, or 299,274 kilometres per second. Two fundamental laws of physics let a radar do its work. Your greeting will echo back to you from the walls. Stand in a tiled cellar or cave and shout ‘hello’. Radio waves are transmitted from an antenna, they collide with an object, properly known as a target, and are reflected back at the antenna as echoes. Like most great ideas, radar employs an elegantly simple principle. Active Electronically Scanned Array radars explained The US’s Raytheon AN/FPS-115 ballistic missile early warning radars use a phased array architecture. ![]() The scripts are saved as a resource in your libraries. But psychologists and psychiatrists seldom use these terms, which originate in the speech and language profession. We hear a lot about children having CAPD or Auditory Processing Disorder (APD). We call these problems Central Auditory Processing Disorders.” ADHD or Auditory Processing Disorder? Some adults have problems in converting these electrical neuronal impulses into meaning. “The brain processes these electrical impulses into sounds, then into words, and then into meaningful sentences and ideas,” says Kutscher. From this point, what the listener thinks he “hears” is actually a series of silent electrical stimuli carried by neuronal wires. The listener’s eardrums vibrate, causing movement of three tiny bones that, in turn, stimulate the cochlear nerve. The speaker’s vocal cords produce a sequence of vibrations that travel invisibly through the air and land on the recipient’s eardrums. Here’s what happens in an exchange between speaker and listener: ![]() “What you think you ‘hear’ is a virtual-reality recreation of sounds that stopped at your eardrum and, from there on, exist as soundless electrical impulses.” “There’s no tiny speaker inside your brain that relays messages from the outside,” explains neurologist Martin Kutscher, M.D., author of ADHD-Living Without Brakes. “We’ve had hardly any garbled messages since George started taking medication for his ADHD,” says Diane. The couple also discovered that stimulant medication may rectify misinterpretation by “strengthening the signal,” the neurochemical pathway from the ear (where sound waves enter) to the brain’s auditory processing cortex (where sounds are interpreted and given meaning). Their therapist gave George and Diane strategies for enhancing communication. Central Auditory Processing Disorder (CAPD) and ADHD Simply put, CAPD causes a person to misinterpret what someone is saying and the tone of voice in which it is said. The couple was relieved when the cognitive therapist explained to them that ADHD has a common comorbid condition called Central Auditory Processing Disorder (CAPD). Just as their miscommunication reached fever pitch, George was diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). But the message had been sliced and diced on the way from my mouth to his understanding of what I’d said.” Diane was right. He was looking right at me, paying attention. Diane didn’t buy it: “It’s not that he wasn’t listening or didn’t want to listen. The couple’s therapist suggested that George had a deep-seated resistance to listening to Diane, so he blocked her out. Given the couple’s tangled talk, and George’s penchant for watching TV at full volume, Diane thought he had a hearing problem, but testing nixed that theory. Puzzled, he said, “Your suits stare? What?”ĭespite Diane’s clarification, George insisted that she had said exactly that - and in a disapproving tone of voice. Once she met him at her front door with a warm smile, noticed mud on his shoes, and asked him to leave his boots on the stairs. The listening difficulties of children with APD may be a consequence of cognitive, language, and attention issues rather than bottom-up auditory processing.“Garbled.” That is how Diane described communicating with her fiancé George. Methodological quality of most of the incorporated studies was rated moderate due to the heterogeneous groups of participants, inadequate descriptions of participants, and the omission of valid and reliable measurements. These differences relate to auditory and visual functioning, cognition, language, reading, and physiological and neuroimaging measures. Significant dissimilarities were found between children referred with listening difficulties and controls. ![]() In total, 48 studies were included, of which only 1 was classified as having strong methodological quality. Methodological quality was quantified using the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association's levels of evidence.įifty-three relevant studies were identified. Relevant studies were independently reviewed and appraised by 2 reviewers. Six electronic databases were searched for peer-reviewed studies investigating children with (suspected) APD in comparison with typically developing peers. The purpose of this review article is to describe characteristics of auditory processing disorders (APD) by evaluating the literature in which children with suspected or diagnosed APD were compared with typically developing children and to determine whether APD must be regarded as a deficit specific to the auditory modality or as a multimodal deficit. ![]() on the lowest shelf, since the washer & dryer will make it harder to reach items stored up high. Smartphone/tablet teleprompters have proven to be very successful for YouTube channels. If most speakers who read from a prepared script sound like they’re reading from a script, imagine how much tougher it is to read one from two small panels of glass, flanked on the speaker’s left and right sides, located feet apart from one another! The most direct answer is that speaking from a teleprompter is hard. Ideally, practice reading your script from a real Prompter, days in advance of the shoot. How to Read From a TelePrompter and Look Good How do you read a teleprompter and look good? If it’s at the bottom, they worry that their next line won’t arrive in time. If it appears too close to the top, they rush to say it before the line disappears (teleprompters scroll from bottom to top). Most presenters prefer to have the line they’re currently speaking somewhere in the middle of the glass. You can run text through this in a variety of cool ways and once you figure it all out, you can mirror text for reading on your homemade teleprompter at a speed and text size that is best for you.How do you tell if someone is reading from a teleprompter? ![]() Step 6 Download the free app called "Dv Prompter" for your ipad or iphone, or another free program for your computer. It's reflection should now be in the center of the hole you made, if not, make some adjustments to the height or position of the ipad. Now place your ipad on the bottom of the turned box so that it faces the mirror. Take a peak through the back side to make sure you can see through it alright (it should be slightly darker but your camera will adjust for it). Step 5 Position mirror glass into box at a 45 degree upward angle. You can put a bit of duct tape across the hole on both sizes and then cut a cross and it will make a really good holder for your camera lens and reduces light coming from the back end. This is usually the same as the filter you put on your lens. You can find the width of your camera lens by it's lens size (i.e. On the back of the box, find the center and cut a circle out just large enough for your camera lens. Step 4 Position box on it's longer side, with the opening facing forward. Ideally, you can let the window tint guy just apply it to your glass. With patience you can do it, just use plenty of water, a squeegee, and give it a day to dry. Don't waste your time or money buying the tint at home depot or online, you get way too much and it cost about six times as much. ![]() Although this is ideal, the one I got looked way too mirrored but it worked great! This cost me $5. Step 2 Go to a local window tint or car tinting company and ask for a bout a 14" (inches) x 3' (ft) section of mirrored window tint 15% reflectiveness/visibility. The glass at home depot is used as replacement glass for picture frames and small projects, so look for glass around 3/32" to 1/8" thick. The length and height of your glass should be the same as the length of your box so that it can be slid in nicely at a 45 degree angle. You can get a smaller piece or larger piece depending on how big you want your screen to be and/or what size of a box you have handy. Step 1 Purchase a glass square at home depot for ~$4 for a 12" x 16" piece. If you have an ipad, iphone, or computer monitor, you can make a $10 teleprompter that rivals that of the pros! You don't need woodcrafting skills or an elaborate design, just a box knife and about 20 minutes of your time. |
